About EMDR Therapy

What is EMDR Therapy?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an innovative and highly effective psychotherapy method supported by extensive research. It helps individuals process and resolve distressing memories, beliefs, and emotions by facilitating the brain’s natural healing process.

Through EMDR therapy, clients focus on specific memories while engaging in bilateral stimulation. This helps access and reprocess distressing memories in a new way, reducing their emotional intensity and promote healing.

This process leads to shifts in thoughts, feelings, and beliefs about the memory, resulting in relief and symptom improvements.

At my practice, I integrate EMDR therapy into my approach alongside other therapeutic modalities, tailored to your unique needs and goals. Together, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan to help you achieve your desired outcomes and live a more fulfilling life.

The American Psychiatric Association, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs/Dept. of Defense, The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, and the World Health Organization among many other national and international organizations recognize EMDR therapy as an effective treatment.

While EMDR is widely recognized for its effectiveness in treating PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), its applications extend to a wide range of challenges, including anxiety and depression.
